RACHEL FREEMAN

End of Life Doula

Compassionate, practical support for the end of life.

Welcome
Hello, I’m Rachel. I believe that talking about, planning for, and experiencing the end of life should not be something we do alone or in fear.
Whether you are looking for practical guidance for your own future, seeking support while caring for a loved one, or simply wanting to talk openly about mortality, I am here to help. I provide a calm, non-medical presence to help individuals and families find peace, dignity, and clarity during life's final chapters. How We Can ConnectEnd of Life Support
I offer tailored, compassionate guidance for those nearing the end of life and their families. From advance care planning and sitting vigil to early bereavement support, I work alongside your medical team to provide the emotional and practical grounding you need.
Dementia Guidance
As a dedicated Dementia Ambassador, I understand the unique complexities this diagnosis brings to individuals and their caregivers. I offer specialized support to help families navigate the emotional and practical challenges of dementia with patience and dignity.
Death Cafés
I regularly facilitate local Death Cafés - relaxed, informal gatherings where people come together over tea and cake to talk openly about death and dying. Please note that these are not grief counselling sessions or bereavement support groups. They are simply a safe, welcoming space to break the taboo, ask questions, and share thoughts about our mortality.
Take the First Step
Reaching out is often the hardest part. I offer a free, no-obligation initial conversation to see how I might best support you.

About Me

A Gentle, Guided Approach to the End of LifeHello, I’m Rachel.
I provide compassionate, non-medical support to individuals and families navigating the final chapters of life.
I'm a Dementia Ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society and over the past 10 years have been working with elders living with dementia, their carers, and young people, meeting and dancing together. I find the connection with elders living with dementia a complex and rewarding experience that brings both occasional sadness and much joy.I trained with the Active Birth Trust and still support births for friends and family. My End of Life Doula interest began after I'd supported two people in their end of life journey. This experience was, for me, life-enhancing and inspiring.I enjoy joy yoga, walking, running, crafts, gardening, reading, and many other activities. I have two adult children and live with my husband in Malvern.I'm told I'm very approachable and I welcome meeting anyone who needs help or support in their - or someone they care about's - end-of-life preparations. My approach is rooted in the belief that dying is a deeply human experience, not just a medical event. I am here to hold space, offer practical guidance, and help you and your loved ones find moments of peace, dignity, and meaning during an overwhelming time. Whether you are planning ahead, processing a diagnosis, or currently caring for someone at the end of their life, you do not have to do this alone.

How I Can Help
Every situation is unique. I tailor my support to whatever brings you the most comfort and relief, working alongside your medical care team. My core services include:

Advance Care & Legacy Planning: Helping you document your final wishes, organise important information, and create meaningful legacy projects (like letters, recordings, or memory books) for your family.Emotional & Practical Support: Serving as a calm, independent sounding board for your fears and questions, helping mediate difficult family conversations, and assisting with day-to-day practicalities.Sitting Vigil: Being a quiet, reassuring presence during the active dying phase, ensuring the environment remains peaceful, and providing essential respite for exhausted family caregivers.Early Bereavement Guidance: Offering immediate, practical support in the hours and days following a death, and guiding families gently through the initial steps of arrangements.Working Together:
End-of-life support should be accessible to anyone who needs it. We always begin with a free, no-obligation conversation - whether over a phone call or a quiet cup of tea - to see how I can best support you.
In my initial telephone conversation with you we will discuss whether you/your relative or friend is able to pay for support or whether you would like to request subsidised support which End of Life Doula UK can provide in some instances. As a fully-qualified doula, I charge £35 an hour.
Sometimes, people can access payments such as Attendance Allowance to cover the cost of doula support.
Please reach out to discuss what is possible; financial concerns should never be a barrier to receiving compassionate care when you need it most.
